Getting Started
Welcome to Spectral Health! You can get powerful insights from hospital financial data just by asking questions in plain English. We use a credit system for our queries, and you can get started for free.
There are three main types of questions you can ask, each with a different credit cost.
1. Request a Standard Report
When you need a comprehensive, pre-formatted analysis, you can ask for a standard report by name. Currently, the Cost Ratio Report is available. This is the most cost-effective way to get a deep analysis.
Simply tell the assistant what you need, including the hospital and the fiscal year.
Examples:
- “Can you give me the cost ratio report for Kindred Hospital in Las Vegas for 2022?”
- “Generate a cost ratio report for provider number 123456 for fiscal year 2021.”
The assistant will generate a detailed PDF and a CSV file with the report data.
2. Ask for Custom Data
For questions that are not covered by a standard report, you can ask for any specific data you need. The assistant will query the HCRIS database and return the results as a table.
Examples:
- “What hospitals in California had the highest net income in 2022?”
- “Show me the total charges for all hospitals in Florida for fiscal year 2021.”
- “List the top 5 hospitals by total patient revenue in 2019.”
You will receive a CSV file with the raw data.
3. Request Data with a Visualization
You can also ask for a visual representation of your custom data query. This builds on a custom data query and has an additional credit cost. Simply add a phrase like “and show me a chart” or “plot the results” to your request.
Examples:
- “What were the total costs for hospitals in city of New York in 2022, and show me a bar chart?”
- “Plot the net patient revenue for hospitals in the 90210 zip code.”
The assistant will generate a relevant chart based on your data, in addition to providing the CSV file.
